How do holid oil shock absorbers work?


If you have ever waved your hand back and forth through water, then, in principle, you know how a shock absorber works. The resistance to motion you feel with your hand changes with speed – the faster you move your hand, the more energy it takes to push against the resistance of the water.A pneumatic shock absorber works much the same way. Inside the shock absorber there’s a piston that moves inside a tube that is filled with oil. As the piston moves, the oil is forced through tiny holes and valves within the piston, precisely controlling the amount of resistance to movement. This resistance to the motion converts the energy into heat. (Yes, a shock absorber that has been doing its job over a rough road does get warm!)


Although shock absorber supply have been many different designs for shock absorbers over the course of automotive history, today there are four basic types available:Twin-tube、Mono-tube、Gas-filled mono-tube、External reservoir.Sometimes these types of shock absorbers are incorporated into a strut-type suspension that uses the shock absorber as part of the spring support, but the basic principles still apply.

Inner Workings of a Adjustable Shocks

A shock has a method of handling energy during and after compression and release of a spring. Inside the Industrial shock absorber is a piston moving within an oil filled tube as the car suspension moves. As the piston travels with the cars suspension either up or down in the tube the oil is displaced by the piston and flows through a small hole (orifice) in the piston. In the process of traveling down the tube it resists movement as a function of how big the orifice is. A big orifice equals lower damping, while a small orifice equals more damping. The shocks which come on our cars have a fixed orifice which the factory Velocity and Feed Controllers chassis engineer sized for an “average” driver in average driving conditions. I’m not sure I have ever met an average driver who owned a performance car.

Types of Robotic arm


    Cartesian robot / Gantry robot: Used for pick and place work, application of sealant, assembly operations, handling machine tools and arc welding. It's a robot whose arm has three prismatic joints, whose axes are coincident with a Cartesian coordinator.
    Cylindrical robot: Used for assembly operations, handling at machine tools, spot welding, and handling at diecasting machines. It's a Robotic Arm whose axes form a cylindrical coordinate system.
    Spherical robot / Polar robot (such as the Unimate): Used for handling machine tools, spot welding, diecasting, fettling machines, gas welding and arc welding. It's a robot whose axes form a polar coordinate system.
    SCARA robot: Used for pick and place work, application of sealant, assembly operations and handling machine tools. This robot features two parallel rotary joints to provide compliance in a plane.
    Articulated robot: Used for assembly operations, diecasting, fettling machines, gas welding, arc welding and spray painting. It's a robot whose arm has at least three rotary joints.
    Parallel robot: PU Spiral Tube use is a mobile platform handling cockpit flight simulators. It's a robot whose arms have concurrent prismatic or rotary joints.
    Anthropomorphic robot: Similar to the robotic hand Luke Skywalker receives at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. It is shaped in a way that resembles a human hand, i.e. with independent fingers and thumbs.

How to Choose Pneumatic Fittings and Thread Types

In Europe you generally run into PT thread, BSPT thread, or metric thread sizes.  In the US we predominately use NPT thread.  Now a lot of my customers get random machines that are going to have fittings that they have no idea what they are doing, what sizes they have, what pitch they have, ect.

Now one way to combat this is actually the SMC unifit fitting.  What makes it special is that it has a conical rubber seal on the threaded side.  Now the Pneumatic hose threads you don’t have to worry about.  They are general sizes that are going to fit general, metric, BSPT, or PT thread types.  So all it does is screws on, it is not going to screw on overly tight and then with an easy Vacuum circuit breaker quarter turn of the wrench its actually going to seal and seat that conical seal onto your surface.  Now why does that make life easier?  You won’t have to have 150 different types of fittings to control one line, to replace everything in your plant.  That’s confusing, wastes time, wastes money because you are going to have excess inventory because you can’t generally buy one at a time.  In general it is just going to make life a lot easier.
